ABOUT THE ISOMF
The Independent Science of Mind Fellowship was founded in 2006 by a small group of Science of Mind Practitioners who studied esoteric spirituality with Dr. John F. Gilbert at Universal Seminary. We came to believe that the five-step healing practice taught by Science of Mind could be enhanced by adding other healing modalities.
The basic SOM five-step healing paradigm is:
- Call on Deity by using any name the client wants to use,
- State the problem or situation to make certain you, the client and the Divine all understand what is being addressed,
- State the intention you and your client have for healing,
- Gratefully thank the Divine for this healing, and
- Close the session with an Amen and a hug.
This technique has been used by licensed Religious Science practitioners for decades. It has proven to be helpful for many people. Our experience convinced us to actively become a part of the healing process by using any other healing techniques the client believed in using. "Their belief," Dr. Gilbert said, "will help them heal themselves." We came to believe this truth after several demonstrations in our own lives.
How to Become a Licensed ISOMF Spiritual Healer Practitioner
From this experience we outlined a training program to prepare spiritual healers to learn how to help other people heal themselves. Then we joined the Federation of Spiritual Healer Licensing Boards (FSHLB) and obtained accreditation for our training and licensing program. Now we license qualified members as spiritual healers to help other people heal themselves. Members are invited to start this program at any time.
Requirements to Become a Licensed Spiritual Healer
The second major concept we learned at Universal Seminary is that ministry is more than preaching on Sunday mornings, it's something we become in order to help other people discover and follow their own spiritual path. We are teachers who help other people learn the skills they need to solve their own problems and follow their own spiritual path.
How to Become a Licensed ISOMF Minister
We separated from the organized and dogmatic Religious Science (Science of Mind) Church to start our own unregulated and independent Science of Mind Fellowship of like-minded people working together for our mutual benefit. We formed an open fellowship rather than a dogmatic church. We affiliated with the Universal Gnostic Fellowship. (Gnostics are seekers of Divine truth. We are seekers of Divine truth.) Our ministers are mentors and teachers.
ISOMF is legally a church, but we function as a fellowship. Any church is ruled by the minister and/or ruling body. A fellowship is ruled by consensus. Fellowship ministers do not rule, they teach and they mentor. Teaching is not telling other people what to do. Teaching is a process for helping other people learn the skills to make their own decisions. Fellowship ministers are mentors and coaches. They are not dictators and advisors.
The only rule we embrace is to treat other people the way we want to be treated. The only law we require is the Law of One which states: "There is One Intelligence in the Universe which expresses itself as everything, and everything in the Universe is an expression of this One Intelligence."
Members interested in becoming ministers are asked to study a variety of esoteric techniques for helping people find and follow their own spiritual path. Some of the esoteric techniques we recommend are described in our resources area. We encourage you to check them out before deciding to become an ISOMF minister.
How to Become a Member of ISOMF
There is no cost or fee required to become an Associate Member. However, donations are always most welcome. They are never required, but they do help us cover our Internet, telephone and correspondence expenses.
